On Sunday, the Cricket club hosted the Football club in the Annual fixture between the 2 clubs. After the Football club had triumphed in the corresponding fixture in December WOSCC were after revenge.
Both teams fielded strong players and the Cricket team won the toss and batted first. After the early losses of Scott Thomas and Tom Burrows, it was left for Neil Wyman to anchor the innings and after taking the attack to the Football club and launching Club President Clive Tempest for several maximums eventually holed out to Ross Martin for a crucial 96 runs. After contributions from the middle order and 41 from Greg Artus the Cricket Club posted 230 from their 40 overs.
Joe McGregor was the main run scorer for the football club, top scoring with 61. After everyone chipped in and Artus removed the dangerous Ross Martin, the cricket club survived a scare and removed the football club just 20 runs short of their target.
A second fixture between the 2 has been scheduled for July 1.
