Last Wednesday (23rd) May, the Midweek travelled to WEPL club Painswick and put in a spirited yet unconvincing performance against a team revered as one of the best in the region. After the top order of the home team had been removed cheaply by Tom Burrows (1-24) and Greg Artus (1-21) it was left to club Chairman Rich Edginton (2-34) and part time leg spinner Rob Hale (1-36) to restrict the home team to 159 off their 20 overs.
The reply never really got going and Westbury lost wickets at regular intervals despite the innings being anchored by an impressive 32 from skipper Dan Anderson and 27 from Tony Campbell, the Midweek XI slumped to a 61 run defeat and will look to bounce back against Witcombe next week at the Parish Hall.
