Westbury-on-Severn 2XI v Glos City Winget 4th XI

With the 1XI having the week off, the club put out a strong team and welcomed Gloucester City on a scorching hot afternoon at the Parish Hall. After stand-in Skipper Neil Wyman won the toss and elected to bat the 2XI recovered from the loss of the top 3 within the first 15 overs the innings was lit up by Chris Wayman who utilised the gaps and put the bad ball away when necessary to reach an agonising 98 not out and he was well supported by Karl George who took advantage of sloppy bowling and a tiring field to notch up 80 unbeaten runs to put the team in a strong position of 244 from their 45 overs.

After young Alex Wyman had removed the visitors opener with the score in single figures the innings was set up nicely for spinner Ian Broady to record superb figures of 5-44 from 8 overs. This even included stand-in wicket-keeper Danny Anderson notching 2 impressive stumpings. Wyman 's 1 for 27,  Burrows' 1-21, Ed Edginton's 1-37 and the same figures from Joe McGregor meant Westbury won by 50 runs and moved back up the table after their set-back the previous week.

The 2XI travel to Tewkesbury 3rds next Saturday and will look to continue their push up the Division9 table.
